The Secret Garden

If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.
The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett

On Saturday, whilst halfway through the unenjoyable task of moving house, I received a very welcome text from my friend inviting myself and Mr. Forcella to a barbecue that evening.

Living in the beautiful Ribble Valley, the sight that greeted us as we arrived was part Secret Garden, part Alice in Wonderland as we spied this giant Connect Four through the doorway of the walled garden where we were to spend the evening being entertained.

We sat ensconced in an outdoor living room surrounded by trails of Ivy and meadow flowers sipping home-made mojitos whilst our hosts fired up the barbecue.

We were treated to a classic barbecue feast including sausages, minted lamb burgers, crunchy Caesar salad and summer fruit trifle.

As the sun set we kept warm with a roaring chiminea...

... and chilled out by candlelight.

The perfect way to spend a summer's evening!

Thank you to Nicky & Philip for inviting us and letting me share photos of their beautiful garden.
