Sounding very much like the name of a Bond movie, Point Grey is in actual fact a large cottage in Welburn (near York) owned by my friends Karen and Caroline.

Point Grey - a holiday home, not a Bond movie |
You may remember the amazing wedding I went to last year where the brides had created a teepee village in their back garden (
Teepee Love). Well, they have now finished converting the house into a luxurious holiday home, which sleeps up to 10 adults in 5 double bedrooms, and invited myself, Mr. Forcella and a few of our other friends up for the weekend to give it a trial run.

The garden, without camera-shy bunnies |
We arrived on the Friday night to be greeted with mojitos and we all got settled into to our gorgeous rooms before chilling out in the fabulous outdoor seating area that Caroline & Karen have created within the large and beautiful garden (which comes complete with
a lot of wild bunnies - which are astonishing hard to photograph, but believe me they'll be keeping you company all weekend!!).

After enjoying a delicious home made fish pie sat around the massive dining table and waiting a sensible length of time to allow for digestion, we piled into the hot tub and whiled the night away having a good old gossip and catch up.

One of the things I love about this house is all of the little touches throughout the property which make it feel like a true holiday
home. There are lots of references to the seafaring past of it's previous occupant, Caroline's father, and I was particularly tickled by this old railway sign situated by the side gate.
As Point Grey is only 2 miles from
Castle Howard, the next day we put on our trainers and set off across the North Yorkshire countryside to stretch our legs and of course reward ourselves with a hot chocolate in the castle cafe.

Dinner was a BBQ followed by more cocktails (strawberry daiquiris this time) and more hot-tubbing.

After a final chill out in front of a roaring wood burner in the huge living room (it was June in Yorkshire - what else do you expect?), we all had to leave by lunchtime on the Sunday, but if we had stayed longer a trip to the local pub, the
Crown & Cushion (and by local, I mean literally opposite), would have been in order for Sunday lunch.

I always find that going away at the weekend seems to make the weekend last so much longer and of course spending time with friends is guaranteed to make a break special. Friends, cocktails, beautiful countryside and a hot tub seem to be the ingredients for the perfect weekend and I found all of these at Point Grey.
What are the ingredients for your perfect weekend? I'd love for you to share them with me below.
